The snake pit

Thank y’all for coming today the birthday girl said warmly. Follow us we are going to head outside to see the animals! They followed her to the first exhibit. There were 5 ostriches in a fenced area. All of the kids commented at once. There was a barrage of ohhhhhhh’s!!! Look how tall!! Their necks are long!!!!

Next to the ostriches were sheep. Fluffy hair!! Mary had a little lamb!! One of Ginger’s children sang. Thelma thought it was cute! On the opposite side were more aggressive animals. There were boa constrictors, Pythons and rattle snakes! Thelma could not figure out why the snakes had to be there. She liked the gentler animals. Can we feed the sheep! Yes you may Thelma and Ginger replied at the same time.

It took about 15 min for the bags of feed to run out. The sheep ate eagerly but still very slowly. Mark had dropped his bag of feed after one of the sheep had stuck his nose in the bag and knocked it out of his hand onto the floor. Sheep swarmed the spilled food and greedily nibbled the scattered feed. He was angry. He was glaring at the sheep. He sneered and his face turned red. Stop it Ginger warned him. He looked at her like he could not stand her! They walked to the snake exhibit next. Please remain behind the orange line that is marked in front of the gate. The snake handler yelled. We are going to feed the snakes. What do they feed the snakes? Mark asked the handler. Marrrrk!!! Ginger screamed! She slapped him on the back of the head. Don’t ask questions be quiet. I am just asking a simple question!! There is nothing wrong with what I’m asking. Shut up now! Is he done the wrangler asked? Yes Ginger replied while glaring at Mark in a threatening manner. Mark was sneering and his eyes watered. He was so angry he was holding back tears. Ok are y’all ready? We are feeding the boa constrictors first. The handler opened a box with rats. He took one out and let it run into the pit with snakes. Thelma could not watch the scared and defenseless rat be eaten by the gang of snakes. Everyone was quiet and watched fascinated as the rat was bitten numerous times. Thelma could not understand how they could watch such a horrid act without blinking. Hey!!!! Get out of there!!! IDIOT! The handler screamed. Thelma looked to the right. Mark was inside of the rattlesnake exhibit. He turned to Ginger and said “I hate you” he then walked into the rattle snake pit. He was immediately bitten and squeezed by the snakes. Their tails lashed back and forth beating him all over his body. The handler screamed for some of the other animal handlers to remove the snakes. The bitting lasted about 7 min before the handlers could get the snakes off of Mark.

When Mark was dragged out of the pit his body was swollen and was a black and purple color. Ginger had fainted and was sprawled on the ground. Her kids were screaming and crying for Mark. The handlers were furious. IDIOT they screamed and shook their heads. Thelma knew he was “off”.
